Yellow Oxide for Ochre and Mustard
Jo Sonja's Yellow Oxide Matte Flow Acrylic in a 250ml bottle: a golden ochre for wheat, mustard tones and earthy yellows.
Yellow Oxide shows an even golden ochre in the swatch photo, earthier than a lemon or cadmium style yellow, at home in wheat, straw and autumn work. The pink banded label reads Artists' Colours, then Yellow Oxide, Series 1 and ASTM 1, with pigment codes for Yellow Oxide given as PY.42. This 250ml Yellow Oxide suits trays, chairs and bigger panels.
Earthy yellows mellow a design and sit happily beside browns and reds, making Yellow Oxide a steady choice for rustic and autumn pieces. It also makes a warm base for gold leaf style effects and a natural tone for straw hats, baskets and wheat sheaves.
Yellow Oxide wheat and straw details take shape with a liner or fan from craft paint brushes. Browns, reds and greens for autumn designs are in acrylic paints, and canvas and art paper provide the surface.
