Raw Sienna for Golden Earth Tones
Choose Jo Sonja's Raw Sienna in 250ml for a golden ochre brown for sandy ground, straw and warm timber.
Raw Sienna shows a golden, ochre leaning brown in the swatch, natural on sandy paths, haystacks, pine furniture and honey coloured animals such as lions and Jersey cows. Its label lists PBr.7 as the pigment, marks Raw Sienna as Series 1 and prints ASTM 1. Raw Sienna in 250ml suits larger canvases and furniture.
Golden earths warm up a landscape gently, and Raw Sienna sits between yellow and brown so it fills a gap many palettes lack. The golden brown also suits wood toned frames and the warm base layer under fur, feathers and timber grain.
Raw Sienna fur and timber textures respond well to a fan or rake from craft paint brushes. Darker umbers and brighter yellows extend the palette in acrylic paints, and canvas and art paper suit landscape studies.
