Raw Umber Yellowish for Warm Earthy Underpainting

Raw Umber Yellowish is a warm golden brown, close to toasted ochre, and a dependable colour for landscape underpainting, tree trunks and soil.

The chocolate brown colour band names it RAW UMBER YELLOWISH, Series 1, with a half-filled circle before the series. In smaller print it repeats as Umbra Natur Jaunâtre, Terre d'Ombre Naturelle Gelblich and Tierra Sombra Natural Amarillento. Chroma's Atelier logo, Fine Artists' Paint and Est. 1965 fill the black band, and Interactive Acrylic, Unlockable Formula sits on the white lower half of the tube.

Our swatch shows the thin band brightening to caramel, handy for warm portrait shadows as well as earth and bark. As a Series 1 colour it is one of the lower-priced Atelier Interactive tubes we list, and the 80ml size suits both studio work and a small outdoor kit.

Find this brown as code AI16700. Earth tones sit well beside more acrylic paints, and you can add acrylic mediums, our brush range and canvas and painting paper to finish the setup.

FAQs

You get one 80ml tube of Raw Umber Yellowish, Chroma code AI16700, and nothing else. The brown swatch beside it in the photo is there to show the colour.
Chroma names this one Raw Umber Yellowish, and our swatch shows a golden, ochre-leaning brown. We have not photographed other umbers side by side, so we cannot compare them here.
It is printed as Series 1, the lowest series on our 80ml Atelier Interactive listings. Higher series numbers are priced higher.
The tube carries the Atelier tagline Fine Artists' Paint. That wording comes from Chroma; we make no separate grade claim for this umber.
