A Deep Royal Blue for Big Skies and Night Water

Chroma Atelier Interactive Phthalo Blue (Red Shade) comes in a 250ml jar for painters who reach for a dark, saturated blue across large canvases.

The jar label spells the colour Pthalo Blue (Red Shade) and places it in the Interactive line, printed as Artists' Acrylic. In the photo swatch the paint sits almost black at full body, then opens into a vivid royal blue where the brush thins it out. That range makes it a natural pick for night skies, deep harbour water and cool shadows on larger works.

Painters who return to one blue again and again tend to run small packs dry mid-session. A 250ml jar of Phthalo Blue (Red Shade) keeps plenty on hand for broad sky passages, and the wide neck under the black screw lid lets a palette knife or flat brush dip straight in.

Line this blue up with other Atelier colours in our acrylic paints range, choose a wide flat from craft paint brushes, and stretch AI16490 work onto boards from art paper and canvas or classroom canvas boards.

FAQs

One AI16490 jar holding 250ml of Phthalo Blue (Red Shade). Brushes for this red-shade phthalo are sold separately.
In the product photo swatch, AI16490 sits near black where thick and turns a vivid royal blue when spread thinly. The separate brush-out shows a cobalt-toned blue easing into a bright sky blue. Screens vary, so treat these photos as a guide.
Chroma prints Artists' Acrylic under the Interactive logo on this Phthalo Blue (Red Shade) jar, and that is the grade wording we rely on. Side-panel small print, where pigment details usually sit, is too fine to read in our photos.
The distributor price list places Phthalo Blue (Red Shade) in Series 2. In the Atelier Interactive jars, prices step up with each series number, so AI16490 costs more than Series 1 colours and less than Series 3.
