Red Earth ink for rusty, brick and outback tones

Chroma Atelier Red Earth is a rusty brick-red acrylic ink in a 60ml bottle, made for outback landscapes, terracotta and earthy illustration.

The silver band on the label carries the name RED EARTH, with the Atelier logo and Artists' Pigmented Inks printed beneath. In the bottle the ink appears a deep rust colour. The swatch in our second photo shows a rusty brick red with orange tones running through the brush marks. The capacity printed at the base of the label is 60ml, or 2 US fl oz.

Earth reds give landscapes and buildings a grounded warmth that bright reds cannot. Wash it in for red soil, rock faces, brickwork, rooftops and terracotta pots, or use it as a warm undertone for skin and animal studies in figurative work.

Landscape painters often pair it with acrylic paints for underpainting, sturdy sheets from art paper and canvas, and wash brushes from craft paint brushes, building a warm earth palette for red centre scenes and old buildings.

Our swatch shows a rusty brick red with orange tones, an earthy colour rather than a bright primary red.
Red soil, rock and outback scenes are common uses for an earth red like this one. Pair it with Yellow Ochre (AT20990) and Burnt Umber (AT20060) for a wider set of earth tones.
Not on the side we photographed. Only the colour name, range, logo and 60ml size are visible.
It is an ink in a bottle, labelled Artists' Pigmented Inks and listed as an acrylic ink, rather than paint in a tube.
