Cerulean Blue Hue ink for skies, water and light blues

Chroma Atelier Cerulean Blue Hue is a bright sky blue acrylic ink in a 60ml dropper bottle, suited to landscape washes and illustration.

The label reads CERULEAN BLUE HUE, and the word hue is part of the printed name. Through the glass the ink looks a strong cobalt-like blue, but brushed out in our swatch it settles into a clear, bright sky blue that grows paler where the wash thins. Below the Atelier logo the label carries the range line Artists' Pigmented Inks and the 60ml capacity.

Light, fresh blues are hard to mix from deeper ones, so a ready-made sky tone saves time on location and in the studio. Flood it across damp paper for open skies, drop it into seascapes and pools, or use it for cool accents in botanical and fashion illustration.

For washes on paper, look at art paper and canvas, add a broad wash brush from our brush range, and browse painting supplies or the whole art and craft supplies department for palettes and storage.

FAQs

The order is one Cerulean Blue Hue ink, 60ml, Chroma code AT20130, in a bottle topped with a black rubber dropper. There are no extra colours or tools included.
Hue is simply part of the name on the bottle. We have no further detail from the bottle about the pigments behind it, so we describe the colour from our swatch instead.
In our swatch photos Cerulean Blue Hue reads as a lighter sky blue, while the Ultramarine Blue ink (AT20980) shows a deeper royal blue. Many painters keep both for skies and shadows.
Not in this listing. The Atelier inks here are each sold as a 60ml bottle.
Draw ink up with the dropper bulb and release a few drops onto a palette, then pick it up with your brush. That keeps the bottle itself clean.
