Colour Bands That Show Young Writers Where Each Letter Sits

Writer Premium NP4116 is a ream of 250 loose A4 sheets printed with 24mm dotted thirds in ground, grass and sky colours, ruled on both sides.

Plain dotted thirds ask a beginner to count lines. This paper tints the three spaces instead: a blue sky band on top, a green grass band in the middle and a beige-brown ground band below, with a solid line under the grass. Tall letters reach into the sky, small letters stay on the grass and tails drop into the ground, which gives teachers a simple way to talk about letter height.

The wrapper states 70gsm paper, 250 sheets and ruling on both sides. The Note Group list it as a portrait exam ream at 297 x 210mm. Loose sheets suit handwriting assessments, worksheets you photocopy instructions onto by hand, and take home practice where a whole book would be too much.

Blue is the sky band for the tops of tall letters, green is the grass band where small letters sit, and beige-brown is the ground band for letter tails. A solid line runs under the green band.
The wrapper and the page title from The Note Group both say 24mm dotted thirds, so that is what we describe. One line in their online description says 18mm, which appears to be copied from the 18mm ream NP4115.
