Tombow ABT 725 Rhodamine Red in a dual tip brush pen

The Tombow Dual Brush Pen in 725 Rhodamine Red, Tombow item 56581, puts one ABT colour behind two tips: a flexible nylon brush for expressive strokes and a fine tip for steady lines.

For mixing on paper, Tombow suggests putting the darker colour down first and adding the next colour before the first dries, or touching the darker tip to the lighter pen to pick up colour. Tombow also shows shading with a water brush or a wet paintbrush, and Tombow lists the water-based dye ink as blendable.

According to Tombow, the brush end can lay down fine, medium or bold strokes and the fine end keeps lines consistent. Tombow also lists odourless ink and tips that self-clean after blending among the features of the pen. The barrel is printed with the colour number 725, which makes it easy to find in a mixed set.

Rhodamine Red is one of 108 colours that Tombow sells in the ABT range, each available as a single pen. Explore visual art diaries, art pads, brush markers and the Tombow range.

Tombow describes shading by working over the ink with a water brush, and notes that a wet normal paintbrush can be used instead. Tombow also suggests picking colour up from a plastic surface with the brush for a watercolour effect.
The barrel is printed Tombow ABT 725, and Tombow lists the colour as 725 Rhodamine Red under item 56581. Each colour in the ABT range carries its own number.
