Deep Indigo Ink For Everyday Handwriting That Is Not Plain Black

The Staedtler triplus fineliner 334-36 writes in indigo blue, a deep blue with a hint of violet, and this listing is a box of 10 of that single colour.

Indigo is a practical writing colour. It reads almost as seriously as black in meeting minutes, letters and journal entries, yet it stands apart from printed text, which makes handwritten comments on a document easy to spot. It also gives line sketches and lettering a softer edge than black.

The pen itself is the familiar triplus: a three-sided PP barrel that Staedtler shape for relaxed, easy writing, and a superfine tip clad in metal. Staedtler put the line at approx. 0.3 mm and fill the pen with water-based ink that they describe as DRY SAFE, meaning a pen with the cap left off for days is not ruined, and say it washes easily out of most textiles.

Indigo blue is listed in Staedtler Australia's trade catalogue, though it does not appear among the colours on their current Australian website. Staedtler state the triplus fineliner is made in Germany.

FAQs

You get ten triplus fineliners in indigo blue, colour 36, in one box. This matches the unit Staedtler Australia supply the colour in.
It is a dark blue with a slight violet lean, clearly blue on the page rather than black. For a brighter mid blue, Staedtler blue 3 or ultramarine 37 are the closer picks.
Staedtler do not list carbon copies for the triplus fineliner; that claim belongs to their triplus rollerball. A fine felt tip under light pressure may not transfer through carbonless sets.
Staedtler give approx. 0.3 mm. Pressing hard can push the line a little wider over time, so a light hand keeps it crisp longer.
The lead image is Staedtler's current black barrel; the second shows the earlier grey barrel. The ink colour is the same, and the barrel you receive depends on stock.
