14mm is the ceiling ACCO give for the GBC WireBind WB15 and WB15E, so this is the thickest wire those machines close. It is the size for handbooks, bound collections of procedures and reference books that have to hold a lot of paper and still open flat. ACCO describe the pages as turning a full circle, handy when a handbook is copied page by page.

One thing to note: the wire page gives 130 sheets, while the machine pages for the WB15 and WB15E put their bind capacity at 125 A4 or A5 sheets. On those machines, work to the lower machine figure. Once closed the spine is fixed, per ACCO.
