Three kilos of fine white plaster, and the numbers you actually need
3kg. Fine white pottery plaster. Approximately 2.5 litres of volume once mixed. Working time 10 minutes. Sets hard in 2-4 hours. $17.50.
Ten minutes of working time is the number that runs the lesson. From the moment it is mixed you have ten minutes before it starts to go off. Have the moulds out, the class ready and the water measured before you open the bag.
2.5 litres from 3kg lets you work out how many casts you get before you buy, instead of guessing.
Fine powder, fine finish. A cheap coarse plaster gives a gritty cast that will not take detail and chips at the edges. This is the reason to buy a plaster made for casting rather than a builder's bag.
It will not crack easily - the supplier's own claim, and the practical difference between a cast that survives being taken home and one that does not.
Leave it overnight if you can. It hardens in 2-4 hours; it is fully set the next morning.
Handling - read this before a class uses it
Wear a dust mask when mixing. The supplier says to use one with any powdered substance and we are repeating it. Fine powder plus a room full of children is worth ten seconds of preparation.
Never pour plaster down a drain or a sink. It sets in the pipe. Wash hands in a bucket and tip the waste outside, or you will be paying a plumber more than the plaster cost.
Wash hands after use. Store somewhere dry and well ventilated - plaster that has taken up moisture will not set properly.

Shipping & Delivery
Delivery time depends on your location, the size of your order, and the shipping option selected at checkout. For in-stock items, standard metro delivery in QLD, NSW and VIC is usually 1 to 7 business days. South Australia, Tasmania, Western Australia and the Northern Territory are generally 3 to 12 business days. Express delivery for eligible parcels under 3kg is usually 1 to 4 business days in QLD, NSW, ACT and VIC. Returns, Refunds & Replacements
Mega Office Supplies accepts change-of-mind returns for unopened and unused products within 14 days from the invoice date, provided the item is returned in its original packaging and in resalable condition. Original shipping costs are not refundable, return shipping is the customer’s responsibility, and a restocking fee may apply depending on the product type and supplier. Some items, including electronics, assembled or installed furniture, food, beverages, medicines, custom-made products, and certain bulk or special-order items, are not eligible for return unless required under Australian Consumer Law.
If your order arrives faulty, damaged, or incorrect, please contact Mega Office Supplies as soon as possible. Where required under Australian Consumer Law, a repair, replacement, or refund will be offered. In these cases, Mega Office Supplies will cover reasonable return shipping costs, and photographic evidence may be requested to help process the claim. Items should be reported within a reasonable timeframe after delivery.
