The Dymo LabelWriter 550 is the desktop label printer for offices and mailrooms that want one label at a time, or a run of 62 a minute, without buying ink.

The LabelWriter 550 succeeds the LabelWriter 450 and prints up to 62 labels a minute at 300 dpi by direct thermal, so there is no ink, toner or ribbon. It takes Dymo LW label rolls up to 62mm wide, which covers address, large address, shipping and name badge, file and multi purpose labels, and connects to a PC or Mac by the USB cable in the box.

Automatic Label Recognition reads each authentic Dymo roll and shows the label size and how many remain, so you can see when to reorder. The free Dymo Connect for Desktop software gives more than 60 label types, and Dymo backs the printer with a two year limited warranty.

Authentic Dymo LW label rolls up to 62mm wide, which covers the 28 x 89mm and 36 x 89mm address labels, the 54 x 101mm shipping and name badge label, file labels and multi purpose sizes. It does not take the 104 x 159mm extra large shipping label, which needs the LabelWriter 4XL or 5XL.
No. Dymo states the 550 series printers work only with authentic Dymo LW labels and will not recognise non-authentic rolls, and its warranty does not cover damage caused by non-authentic labels.
