Derwent Inktense Pencil Chilli Red Box of 6

Inktense pencils contain actual ink pigment rather than traditional watercolour pigment. When activated with water they produce a far more vibrant, ink-like effect. Crucially, once dry the colour is permanent, so you can work additional layers or media over the top without reactivating the base colour.

Yes. Because the colour becomes permanent when dry, Inktense pencils are suitable for use on natural fabrics such as silk and cotton. Apply the pigment dry, wet it with water to set the colour, then allow it to dry fully before handling. Always test on a scrap piece of fabric first.

The pack contains 6 Derwent Inktense pencils all in the Chilli Red (0500) shade. This makes it an efficient option for artists who use this colour frequently or who need consistency across a large project or class set.

Inktense pencils perform best on paper that can handle moisture, such as watercolour paper or a heavier cartridge paper. Thin paper may buckle when water is applied. For fabric, pre-washed natural fibres tend to absorb the pigment most evenly.

Yes, Inktense pencils can be used entirely dry. Dry application produces smooth, saturated colour with a firm, pen-like feel. The water activation step is optional and used when you want the ink wash effect or to set the colour permanently.
