Rich Colour, Effortless Blending - Slate Violet at Its Most Expressive

The Derwent Artists Pencil in Slate Violet delivers a deep, nuanced tone with a slightly waxy texture that makes layering and blending feel natural and controlled.

Serious artists and creative professionals know that pigment quality separates a good drawing from a great one. The Derwent Artists range offers 120 colours, including this Slate Violet, each with a large-diameter colour strip that encourages broad, expressive strokes without sacrificing precision. The slightly waxy core blends smoothly under finger or blending stump, giving you rich tonal depth on the page. Each box contains 6 pencils so you always have a fresh point ready.

The aquamarine barrel with a double-dipped end makes these pencils easy to identify in a full set. Strong, consistent lines suit both gesture drawing and detailed portraiture, and the waxy texture means you can build up multiple layers without the colour becoming chalky or muddy.

Trusted by illustrators, fine artists, and art students across Australia, this box of 6 ensures your studio or classroom never runs short of a signature tone. Add it to your Derwent collection with confidence.

FAQs

This listing contains a box of 6 Derwent Artists Pencils, all in the Slate Violet shade. Having multiple pencils means you can keep several sharpened and ready for uninterrupted work.
The Artists Pencil features a larger-diameter colour strip and a slightly waxy core, making it best suited to broad, expressive work and easy blending. The Studio range is formulated for finer, more detailed drawing where a harder, narrower strip is preferred.
Yes. The waxy texture is specifically suited to layering and blending, allowing you to build up colour gradually without the surface becoming oversaturated. Slate Violet works particularly well as both a standalone shade and as a tonal layer beneath or over other colours.
Derwent Artists Pencils are widely used in secondary schools, TAFE, and university art programmes across Australia. The durable barrel and consistent pigment delivery make them practical for high-use classroom environments.
Yes. Slate Violet is one of 120 colours in the Derwent Artists Pencil range, all available individually or in sets. You can build a custom palette by selecting specific shades to complement your existing collection.
