Texture paste for building raised surfaces in student work

Chroma Chromacryl Texture Paste 250ml is a small jar of modelling paste with a black screw lid and an orange-banded label.

On the larger jars of the same product, the label describes a brushable modelling compound for multiple texturing techniques that dries to a white finish. Students apply it straight from the jar with a dry brush or palette knife, tint it with Chromacryl Students' Acrylic for a coloured ground, or paint over it once dry. The 250ml size fits an individual student or a single small project.

Raised lines and ridges give flat paintings real depth, and the paste can be shaped with everyday tools rather than special equipment. According to the range label it resists turning brittle or discoloured over time, and it is also suggested for collage when heavy items need holding in place.

Let each layer of paste dry fully before painting over it. Paint over it with acrylic paints, shape it with tools from painting accessories, and build on classroom canvas boards.
