Burnt Umber, a dark chocolate brown for the group palette

This 250ml jar of Chromacryl Burnt Umber puts a rich, dark chocolate brown in the centre of a small group painting session.

The painted swatch is a deep brown with coppery glints in the thinner, textured strokes. Its label carries the Chromacryl script over the words Medium Bodied and Students Acrylic, then the colour name and 250mL. Teachers tend to use a jar of this size when four or so students need the same brown for tree trunks, hair or shadow areas.

Dark browns tone down bright colours and build depth in shaded areas, so this one earns its place on most palettes. A screw cap jar can be opened by a student and closed again without fuss, and the brown paint shows through the jar to make it easy to find.
