A litre of gesso primer for a full class set of boards

Chroma Chromacryl Gesso 1 Litre is a wide jar of primer marked 1 litre 33.8 US fl oz on the label.

Chroma prints a full description on the side: it is the ultimate primer for preparing surfaces such as canvas, cardboard, illustration board and paper for acrylic and oil painting. Without it, the label says, paint dries too fast and looks dull. The 1 litre jar suits a teacher priming boards for a whole class before a painting unit, decanting into palettes as needed.

Listed features include excellent covering power, a smooth and even finish with very fine tooth, and a water-based formula. One or two coats is the printed guidance, with a slightly diluted first coat on absorbent surfaces, and the label says there is no need to sand between coats, which saves lesson time.

A teacher can prime a class set in one sitting, then leave the boards to dry overnight. Prime a stack of classroom canvas boards, paint with acrylic paints, and find more classroom staples under painting supplies.
