Carbon Black Interactive Acrylic in a 500ml Studio Jar

Chroma Atelier Interactive Carbon Black arrives in a 500ml screw-top jar for painters who reach for black on almost every canvas.

Carbon Black suits line work, deep shadow passages, graphic backgrounds and tonal underpainting where a neutral dark is wanted. The jar label names the range as Atelier Interactive Artists' Acrylic and lists Series 1, an ASTM 1 rating and pigment PBk 7. Beside those details it prints the open-circle symbol keyed to the word transparent, which is worth knowing before you plan a flat black ground.

A 500ml jar means fewer reorders than small tubes when a run of paintings leans heavily on black. The wide screw cap lets you scoop with a palette knife or load a sealed palette quickly, and the jar sits steady on a crowded studio trolley between sessions.

Before the next session, load a few craft paint brushes, keep some acrylic painting mediums on the bench, and look through our acrylic paints for the other Atelier colours, with canvas and art paper ready to paint on.

FAQs

One 500ml jar of Atelier Interactive Carbon Black with a screw cap. Brushes, palettes and mediums are sold separately.
Both are Series 1 blacks. The Carbon Black jar is marked with the transparent symbol, while the Mars Black label carries the opaque symbol, so choose Mars Black if you want a single dense coat.
The jar label names it Artists' Acrylic, part of the Atelier Interactive range, rather than a student line.
Atelier colours are grouped into numbered series for pricing. In our listings the Series 1 colours, such as this black, cost less than the Series 2 and Series 3 colours in the same size.
The jar suits a single painter working on medium to large canvases. If you supply a classroom or paint murals, the 1 litre container (AI10660) lowers the cost per millilitre.
