Chroma Atelier Gesso 250ml is a gesso primer in a screw-top jar for painters preparing boards, canvas and paper before they paint.

The jar label reads Gesso Primer, under the Atelier Traditional logo and a red Surface Prep heading, with the size printed as 250ml and 8.4 US fl oz. It is a squat white plastic jar with a wide black ribbed screw lid. The front label in our photo does not carry usage directions, so we have kept to what is printed: a primer in the surface preparation group.

A wide jar lets you dip a broad brush or palette knife straight in, which is handy when priming several small boards or panels at once. The 250ml size suits individual painters and smaller projects, with a 1 litre size in the range for bigger jobs.

Painters often prime with this before using acrylic paints, and add art paper and canvas, classroom canvas boards, and wide flat brushes from craft paint brushes for laying the primer on evenly.
