No. Thermal paper reacts to the heat of the print head, so no ink, ribbon or toner is needed. If your register uses an ink ribbon, it needs plain bond paper rolls instead of thermal rolls.
Confirm that your register takes 82mm wide thermal paper and that its paper compartment can hold a roll of 113mm diameter. Your register manual or the label inside the paper cover usually lists the roll width and maximum roll diameter.
