No. It is a stencil - a mask. You print the text or barcode onto the stencil tape, then an etching process transfers that mark permanently into the surface underneath. The tape is non-adhesive; nothing is left stuck to the part.

Brother describes electro-chemical or electrolytic marking: an electrical current is passed through a pad containing etching fluid and pressed onto the stencil, which leaves the mark in the metal. Brother also lists glass, marked using a glass etching paste. You need the etching equipment and chemicals separately - the tape is only the mask.

The mark is etched into the metal or glass itself, so its durability is the material's rather than the tape's. Brother describes it as a permanent mark. Brother publishes no durability rating for the stencil tape, because the tape is not what remains.

Brother lists 11: the PT-E920BT, PT-E560BTVP, PT-D800W, PT-P910BT, PT-P950NW, PT-P710BT, PT-P900W, PT-D600, PT-E550WVP, PT-P750W and PT-P700. Width is physical, so a 24mm cassette will not fit a narrower machine - check your model against that list before ordering.
