Print Full A4 Pages in the Field With No Ink or Toner to Buy

The Brother PJ-822 Bundle Pack combines Brother's USB-only A4 mobile thermal printer with the PA-BT-002 rechargeable battery, PA-AD-600A AC adapter and 100 sheets of PA-C-411 A4 thermal paper, so it is ready to print invoices, delivery notes and service reports on site.

At 255 x 55 x 30mm and 610g with the battery fitted, the PJ-822 fits into a briefcase or laptop bag and can be mounted in a vehicle. Direct thermal printing uses heat-sensitive paper, so there is no ink, toner or ribbon to replace. It prints at 203 x 200 dpi and up to 13.5 pages per minute, and connects by USB-C cable only, with no Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.

Support for ZPL II emulation, ESC/P and P-touch Template commands helps it work with a variety of embedded systems, and Brother publishes an Android SDK for in-house apps. Spare batteries, car adapters, a paper guide and protective cases are sold separately, and Brother says most PJ-700 series accessories carry over.

Staff who need to print from phones over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi are better served by the PJ-883. Find more in our printers and scanners, printer parts and accessories, the full Brother range and our office technology supplies.

FAQs

No. Brother lists USB 2.0 Full Speed Type C as the only connection on the PJ-822, with no Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, NFC, AirPrint or Mopria support. If staff need to print wirelessly from phones or tablets, the Brother PJ-883 Bundle Pack adds Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and NFC.
Print resolution is the main difference Brother lists. The PJ-822 prints at 203 x 200 dpi, while the PJ-823 prints at 300 x 300 dpi for crisper small text, logos and barcodes. Both are USB-only A4 models with the same size, print speed, paper and accessories.
No. It is a direct thermal printer, so the print head marks heat-sensitive thermal paper and there is no ink, toner or ribbon to buy. Paper is the running cost: Brother lists PA-C-411 A4 sheets in packs of 100 and PA-R-411B A4-width rolls in packs of 6 for the PJ-800 range.
The PJ-822 printer, a PA-BT-002 rechargeable Li-ion battery, a PA-AD-600A AC adapter, a USB Type C cable and 100 sheets of PA-C-411 A4 thermal paper, plus a quick setup guide, product safety guide and head cleaning sheet. Car adapters, cases, the car mount and the paper guide are sold separately.
Brother quotes approximately 600 sheets per charge, measured at 1.9% print duty with a new, fully charged battery over USB at 23°C. Brother's figure is based on light page coverage, so real-world results depend on what you print. Brother rates the battery for about 300 charge cycles, and spare PA-BT-002 batteries are available.
Brother rates its standard PA-C-411 A4 sheets for a 3 year archive life. For invoices or records you need to keep longer, Brother also lists PA-C-411-20YR paper rated for 20 years.
Brother's PJ-800 series brochure lists Windows 8, 8.1, 10 and 11, Windows Server 2012 to 2022, macOS 10.15, 11 and 12, and Linux (Red Hat and Debian). For newer operating systems, check Brother's support site for current drivers before rolling out a fleet.
Brother covers the PJ-822 with a 1 year Return to Base warranty, which means the printer is sent in for assessment and repair rather than fixed on site. Brother Australia also offers free customer care for the life of the product.
