Brother lists it for four machines only: the MFC-J5845DW, MFC-J5945DW, MFC-J6545DW and the MFC-J6945DW. If your machine is not one of those, this is not its cartridge, even if the code looks close. The four models are also printed on the front of the pack.

They fit the same four machines and Brother sells both. The LC3337 is rated at up to 1,500 pages and this LC3339XL at up to 5,000 pages, roughly double. Buy the LC3337 if the machine prints occasionally, and this one if it runs every day.

Yes. Brother has retired all four of these machines from its current range, but it still publishes and supplies this cartridge with a full yield declaration. A discontinued printer does not mean a discontinued cartridge.

No. Each cartridge is replaced on its own, so when one colour runs out you change that cartridge only. The printer reports each colour's level separately.

Up to 5,000 pages is a declared figure from the ISO IEC 24711 inkjet test, used so cartridges can be compared fairly. Your own figure depends on coverage: pages with heavy colour blocks use more ink than pages with a coloured logo and black text.
