A Fine Black Line For Small, Tidy Handwriting
Staedtler 430FA-9 is a box of 10 black stick 430 ballpoints with the fine 0.7mm tip, the narrower of the two line widths in the range.
Some writing needs to fit a space: the small boxes on a customs or tax form, the columns of a cash book, a crossword grid or a diary with tight ruling. A 0.7mm tip leaves a thinner black line than the usual 1.0mm medium, so letters stay separate instead of running together. Staedtler's catalogue pictures the fine 430 with a yellow barrel printed stick 430 F, which makes it easy to tell apart from the clear-barrelled medium pens in a shared drawer.
Every pen has a cap with a clip and a metal tip. Staedtler put the smooth feel down to a low viscosity ink and list the stick 430 as airplane safe, with automatic pressure equalisation. Staedtler Australia supply the fine black in boxes of 10, so one box is what arrives.
