Avery describes it as a self-adhesive base that sticks to the file surface, a compressor bar that sits on top of the pages, and a U piece that inserts into the compressor bar to hold everything in place. Pages can then be added or removed anywhere in the file.

Avery does not publish a sheet count for any product in this range. What they do publish is a thickness, up to 90mm of paper, and that figure is for the complete fastener rather than any one part. How many sheets that is depends on your paper.

The base. A tubeclip base is self-adhesive and sticks to the file cover. A unitube base is not adhesive and needs an internal gusset in the file to hold it, so it will not work in a plain flat manilla folder. Avery positions the tubeclip for frequently accessed files and the unitube for archiving and permanent storage.

Not as far as Avery publishes. Their wording is that the colours are there to suit your preference. If you run a colour convention it is yours, not one Avery has defined. Note that the separate U pieces and compressor bars come in yellow and blue only; red exists in the complete sets.

Avery prints it on the base itself: 44001 is the 500 box, 44009 is the 100 pack and 44005 is the 10 pack, all the same three piece set. The unitube equivalent at 500 is 44021.

Yes, and that is often the cheaper route. The self-adhesive base is 44006, the U pieces are 44007B and 44007Y, and the compressor bars are 44008B and 44008Y. The non-adhesive unitube base on its own is 44007, which is a different product to 44007B despite the similar code.

Avery's marketing says any manilla folder or shelf file, but their own unitube copy contradicts that by requiring an internal gusset. A self-adhesive tubeclip will go into a plain folder; a unitube will not. If you are unsure which your folders take, ask us before ordering.
