A Twin Lamp Overhead Projector, Not a Replacement Bulb

Nobo Quantum 2521, product code 1900563AU, a twin 250W lamp acetate transparency projector

This page sells the projector, and it used to be titled as a lamp. Nobo's own overhead projection brochure lists product code 1900563 as the Quantum 2521, gives the chassis as 384mm wide by 393mm deep by 715mm high and the weight as 8.15kg, and lists its lamp as 24V 250W with replacement code 33730957. Two Australasian trade records describe the 2521 as a two by 250W lamp machine, which is what separates it from the single lamp 2511 alongside it. A second lamp means a failure mid session is a switch rather than the end of the session.

An overhead projector shines its lamp up through a glass stage and projects whatever acetate transparency is laid on it. There is no video input, no memory stick and no wireless. Overhead projection has been displaced almost everywhere by data projectors and large format displays, so the buyer this suits is maintaining an installation that already exists, or working from a library of printed acetates. It is not the machine to specify for a new room, and we would rather say that here than have it arrive as a return.

The 250W figure is the lamp and the 240V figure is the Australian and New Zealand mains supply. Nobo lists replacement lamp 33730957 for this model, so the spare is known rather than guessed, which is not true of every unit in the range. Acetate film and transparency pens sit on the overhead projector and screens shelf and in presentation accessories.

  • This is the overhead projector itself and not a spare bulb, and it projects printed or hand written acetate transparencies
  • Twin lamp machine, described in two Australasian trade records as two by 250W, so a lamp failure mid session is a switch rather than a stop
  • Nobo lists replacement lamp code 33730957 for this model, so the spare part is published rather than guessed
  • Lamp is 24V 250W per Nobo's brochure, running from a 240V supply, and those are two separate figures
  • Chassis measures 384mm wide by 393mm deep by 715mm high, with a published unit weight of 8.15kg
  • Detachable arm and column, an integral cable tidy and built in carry grips for moving and storing it
  • Five years return to base, with lamps and glass parts excluded from the cover
  • Keeping an existing overhead projector installation running in a school or training room
  • Rooms where a lamp failure part way through a session cannot be tolerated
  • Sites holding a library of printed acetates that is not being redigitised
  • Community halls, churches and clubs working from an existing transparency collection
  • Backup projection in a room with no data projector or display fitted

FAQs

The projector. Our title previously read Overhead Projector Lamp, which was wrong, and it has been corrected. Nobo's overhead projection brochure lists product code 1900563 as the Quantum 2521 with a chassis size and a weight, which are a machine's figures. The bulb is a separate part at a very different price.
Two lamps rather than one. Two Australasian trade records describe the 2521 as a two by 250W lamp machine, and Nobo lists the 2521 in the tier above the single lamp 2511. The practical benefit is that a lamp failing part way through a session does not end the session. Nobo does not publish a changeover mechanism description that we could reach, so we describe the configuration and not how the switch is operated.
Code 33730957, a 24V 250W lamp. Nobo's own brochure lists that code against the Quantum 2521, the 2523, the 2523T and the 4023. It is the first item in the related row on this page. Do not fit a 240V 250W bulb in place of it, because the lamp voltage and the mains voltage are different figures.
Not really, and we would rather say so. An overhead projector shows acetate transparencies and has been displaced by data projectors and large format displays. The sensible buyer is maintaining equipment that is already installed, or working from acetates that already exist. For a new room, specify something else.
Lamp count and price, and the spare part situation. The 2521 is a twin lamp machine and Nobo publishes a replacement lamp code for it. The 2511 is a single element lens unit and Nobo publishes no replacement lamp code for it at all. The two codes differ by one digit, so check which unit you actually have before ordering either the machine or a bulb.
A carton weight, a carton quantity and a light output figure. The 8.15kg in Nobo's brochure is a unit weight rather than a packed one, so we have recorded it in the specifications and left the freight weight unset rather than under declare it. Nobo's brochure gives a minimum lamp life for its Quantum lamps but publishes none against the individual lamp part code, so we quote none.
