Pre-inked construction holds the ink inside the die rather than on a separate pad, which produces a sharper impression and thousands of them before attention is needed. Re-inking extends the same unit rather than replacing it. That suits high-volume administration where a blurred stamp on a form is a problem. Colour is fixed at manufacture.
