A scientific calculator is bought for a syllabus, not a feature count. Junior secondary maths needs trigonometry, powers, roots, logarithms and basic statistics and very little else; senior secondary, TAFE and first-year tertiary add equation solving, matrices and vectors. Check the exam rules before buying, since boards approve specific models and a calculator that is too capable can be barred from the room. For general office arithmetic see desktop calculators, or the full calculator range.
