Rail width is where filing orders go wrong, and it is not obvious until a box arrives. A foolscap file will not sit in an A4 cabinet and an A4 file falls straight through a foolscap one. Measure the internal span first. Then choose capacity, since a standard file and an expanding pocket suit quite different sets of paperwork. See suspension files, filing cabinets and filing labels.
