Tip width and ink type together decide where a marker can be used. Permanent ink bonds to non-porous surfaces and will not wipe off a board; whiteboard formulations do the opposite and are useless on a carton. Bullet tips hold a constant line, chisel tips give broad and fine from one nib. Test on the actual surface before committing to a box. See markers, whiteboard markers and highlighters.
