First Steps in the Queensland Beginner's Alphabet

Targeting Handwriting QLD Prep Student Book by Susan Young introduces Prep children to the Queensland Beginner's Alphabet through simple, flowing movements.

The book starts with gently sloped straight lines and clockwise and anti-clockwise rotations before moving to letters. Letters are grouped by how they are formed, progressing from basic strokes to more complex movements, and every letter shows a marked starting point so children learn correct technique from the beginning. The publisher writes it for the Queensland curriculum.

Upper and lower case letters are paired for tracing, and each letter appears at the top left of its double-page spread. Repetitive track-and-trace activities build fluency, practice lines support independent writing, and a section at the back introduces the numerals 1-10.

The Targeting Handwriting series follows a sequence of student books that runs from one year level to the next. Early years teachers and families can pair this Prep workbook with educational books, activity books and writing supplies from the Mega Office Supplies range.
