White Omnichrom Pencils For Dark And Clear Surfaces

Staedtler 108-0 is a box of 12 white Lumocolor non-permanent omnichrom pencils, made to leave an opaque mark where dark pens disappear.

White is the colour to reach for on black plastic, dark glass, anodised metal, rubber and film. Staedtler say the omnichrom lead marks almost all surfaces opaquely, specifically including dark and transparent ones; their examples include stone, leather, wood, glass, metal, plastic and paper.

The marks are water-soluble, so they suit temporary work: positioning marks on dark panels, numbering on tinted glass or notes on dark film and sleeves. On many smooth surfaces a damp cloth removes them, and many textiles wash clean.

A wood-cased hexagonal pencil has no cap and cannot dry out. To sharpen it, Staedtler name their 510 25 with two holes and the 512 002 tub model. They rate the lead highly lightfast and state that it is made in Germany.

FAQs

One box containing twelve white 108-0 omnichrom pencils.
Hardly. White is meant for dark or see-through surfaces. For paper pick black, blue or red.
It is water-soluble, so moisture or a damp hand can lift it. That is the point when you want to remove it later.
Yes. Staedtler make the 218-0 white refill lead for the omnichrom 768N leadholder.
