Eight machines, all of them HP LaserJet Enterprise: the M507n, M507dn, M507dng and M507x, and the MFP M528dn and M528f with the Flow MFP M528c and M528z. That list is HP's own, taken model by model from HP's specification pages rather than read off the family name. If your machine is not on it, this cartridge is not the one.

They differ only in declared yield. HP publishes 5,000 pages for the 89A, 10,000 pages for the 89X and 20,000 pages for the 89Y, all against ISO/IEC 19752, and all three are listed on the same eight printers. The 89A suits a machine that would otherwise sit on an open cartridge for a long time; the higher yields suit a machine that gets through work.

It is a declared yield, not a promise about your documents. HP's wording is "Declared yield value in accordance with ISO/IEC 19752. Actual yields vary considerably based on images printed and other factors." HP publishes no coverage percentage for the 89 series, so anyone quoting this cartridge at a coverage figure has added a parameter HP does not state. The 89A figure is the ISO/IEC 19752 declared value and nothing more.

HP's replacement supplies list for all eight M507 and M528 models contains only the 89A, 89X and 89Y cartridges. No separate drum or imaging unit appears on any of those eight lists. If your machine is asking for a part we have not listed, read the code printed on the part you are removing and ask us before ordering.

No. HP lists only the 89A, the 89X and the 89Y on those eight models, and the 87A appears on none of them. CF287A and CF289A differ by one digit and that is exactly how the wrong cartridge gets ordered, so read the code on the cartridge you are taking out rather than the code on the box you bought last time.

It is an Original HP cartridge, HP part CF289A. HP's own firmware notes for both the M507 and the M528 series state: "This Firmware includes dynamic security measures, which are used to block cartridges using a non-HP chip or modified or nonHP electronic circuitry." and that periodic firmware updates maintain those measures. We also list a White Box compatible cartridge for this code. That is a separate product from a different manufacturer with its own warranty, and it is not an Original HP cartridge.

Three things a buyer sometimes asks for. There is no coverage percentage, so the yield stands on ISO/IEC 19752 alone. There is no cartridge weight or physical dimension on any HP source we could reach. And we hold no safety data sheet for this code in our own document library. HP's supplies list for the M507 and M528 shows the 89A as a single cartridge code, and we sell it as one cartridge. No carton quantity or multipack code is published for it, so we do not quote one.
