Light Red Oxide, an earthy terracotta red

Light Red Oxide is an earthy terracotta red that suits brick walls, clay pots, red desert landscapes and warm skin shadows.

The tube's orange-red shoulder label reads Light Red Oxide, shows a solid dot marked Opaque, and adds Rouge Clair d'Oxyde, Oxidrot Hell and Rojo Óxido Claro. Our swatch is a warm terracotta in the dense stroke and a lighter salmon-orange where it was scraped thin. Beneath the Atelier mark the tube reads A2, "Heavy Body Acrylic", 120mL.

Earth reds are a staple for Australian landscape painters and for anyone working on brickwork or pottery subjects. The 120ml tube fits a field kit or studio caddy, and the screw cap keeps the remaining terracotta paint sealed between sessions.

Pair this earth red with other ochres and browns in acrylic paints, add palettes from painting accessories, and choose boards from art paper and canvas for Light Red Oxide studies.
