Raffine

The paper underneath does more than people expect. Graphite works on almost anything; charcoal and pastel need a toothed surface to grip and slide off smooth stock entirely. Grade then sets the line, with harder leads for construction and softer for tone. Anything unfixed needs storage that will not smudge it. See sketch pencils, charcoal pencils and art paper.
