Coloured paper earns its place when the colour is doing a job: a form set where each copy is a different colour, a divider that can be found by eye halfway down a filing drawer, a notice that has to stand apart from the white already on the board. Optix runs at 80gsm, the same weight as ordinary copy paper, so it feeds through the same trays without a machine setting to change. Brights suit signage and classroom work; softer tones such as Kula Cream sit better under body text. Assorted packs cover a coding scheme in one order; single-colour reams suit a colour already in use. See A4 coloured papers, coloured papers and copy and office paper.
