Nap depth does the work. A short pile lays a smooth even film on card, board and flat display panels, which is what most classroom and signage work needs. A deeper pile carries more paint and pushes into a textured surface, at the cost of leaving its own stipple behind. Foam rollers give the flattest finish of all and wear out fastest.
