Warm brown gel ink with a fine point

Brown is the quiet, earthy option in the Gelly Roll Regular range, handy for sketches, vintage style lettering and journaling.

Brown ink softens the look of handwriting and suits craft projects such as kraft paper tags, recipe cards and sepia style sketches. This Fine Point 06 pen, code 37325, draws a 0.3 mm line according to Sakura's brochure. The swatch shows a medium chocolate brown, darker than Burgundy and warmer than black, which works well for outlining illustrations that will be filled with coloured pencil.

A brown outline is less harsh than black under light colouring, so drawings read as softer. The brand calls this ink archival quality and resistant to fading on paper, which matters if a journal or scrapbook page is meant to last.

FAQs

A single capped Gelly Roll Fine Point with brown ink, Sakura code 37325, sold individually.
Many artists outline in brown because it sits more gently under colour than black. The fine 0.3 mm line handles hatching and small details.
On Sakura's colour chart it is a medium chocolate brown. If you want something redder, look at Burgundy (37333).
Sakura says the ink does not smear once dry, so most people let it settle before colouring over it. Test your markers on a scrap first, as results depend on the marker and paper.
