The book is organised into weekly units across four terms, with a revision unit closing each term, and every unit finishes with a Problem of the Week that asks students to reason through a less routine question. Each unit also explains one mental strategy and then gives students room to practise it.

Regular short sessions help students recall facts quickly and choose an efficient strategy rather than reaching for pen and paper. Exercises go beyond number to include space, measurement, position, data and chance. Removable answer pages sit in the centre of the book, so an adult can check work quickly.

The workbook sits alongside the Targeting Maths Year 3 Student Book for classroom or home use.
