The edition adds reasoning and communication tasks that ask students to explain their methods, along with updated problem-solving pages and hands-on activities linked to everyday situations. Content is set out unit by unit so a class can work through the year in order.

Clear unit checklists give teachers and parents a quick picture of progress, while the reasoning tasks build the habit of talking through a method. Students practise core maths content in a structured sequence across the year, and the book also works well for focused practice at home.

It suits whole-class programs and home learning.
