Series 1 and ASTM 1 appear on the French Blue label, which lists pigment PB.15.3:PR.101:PW.6 under the Artists' Colours title. French Blue at 250ml goes round further for painting groups.

Soft, greyed tones like this sit behind brighter florals without competing, which makes French Blue a practical background on boxes, trays and chairs. It also gives a weathered, painted shutter look to signs and frames when distressed back with sandpaper.

French Blue basecoats go on smoothly with a wide flat from craft paint brushes and seal well under a matte varnish from painting mediums.
