It can seal paper surfaces so acrylic paint applied afterwards keeps its richness, rejuvenate colour when brushed over dried paint, and replace water as a mixing liquid that enriches colour rather than thinning it. The litre bottle suits a class that varnishes finished pieces at the end of every term.

Directions call for a broad brush straight from the bottle when sealing absorbent paper or dry paint, and for adding medium to colour as desired when mixing. The label also notes that a damp brush loaded with paint can be dipped into the medium without contaminating it.

Brush it over dry work in thin, even strokes for the most consistent result.
