Without it, the label says, paint dries too fast and looks dull. The 1 litre jar suits a teacher priming boards for a whole class before a painting unit, decanting into palettes as needed.

Listed features include excellent covering power, a smooth and even finish with very fine tooth, and a water-based formula. One or two coats is the printed guidance, with a slightly diluted first coat on absorbent surfaces, and the label says there is no need to sand between coats, which saves lesson time.

A teacher can prime a class set in one sitting, then leave the boards to dry overnight.
