The same label recommends it for sealing wood, metal and leather, and for sticking down collage. A 500ml bottle suits a single teacher or a home studio that wants one liquid covering priming, gluing and glazing jobs.

Brushed into Chromacryl colour, the label says it builds bright, luminous glazes, adds gloss and stretches the paint further. Directions on the bottle suggest a 1:1 mix with water for a matt varnish or collage adhesive, and caution that full strength varnish coats can stay sticky in hot weather.

Most schools keep a bottle of binder near the glue sticks.
