A paste differs from a gel in that it is used to build up form and relief, so you can carve, comb or stamp into it and paint over the result once it has set.

Building relief with paste instead of paint saves colour and lets you shape texture before deciding on a palette. A 250ml jar is a good amount for testing techniques, adding texture to a few smaller canvases or making textured samples for a class demonstration.

Larger jars and the gel mediums are in our painting mediums range.
